About Midnight Walk

The first ever St Luke’s Hospice Midnight Walk for Women took place in June 2007. Over 500 women took to the streets of Plymouth and walked 13 miles to raise £70,000 for the Hospice. This brand new fundraising initiative was a huge success for St Luke’s.
The word spread and so in 2008 the number of participants doubled to 1,000 raising nearly £100,000!
Year on year it was evident the event was getting bigger and better so the St Luke’s events team decided to step it up a notch and be one of the first Hospices to create a marathon route of 26 miles in 2009 as well as the original 13 miles. The other major change was that it was now to start and finish at Home Park Stadium, the home of Plymouth Argyle FC.
With this development in 2009, an incredible 2,000 women participated and raised a record amount of £280,000, which was absolutely staggering! Still growing in 2010 the event attracted over 2,200 women. Again, it was a privilege that Plymouth Argyle Football Club kindly hosted the event.
In 2011 3,000 women took part in our Midnight Walk for women raising a fantastic £300,000, which is staggering!
As part of our Fundraising Portfolio the Midnight Walk is our largest event which helps towards the necessary charitable donations of £4.5 million each year.
In keeping with the 30th Birthday theme, we are offering a brand new 30 mile option as well as the usual 7 and 13 miles. Yet again we want to take our Midnight Walk to the next level and encourage more ladies to take part. If you feel you can take the pace, sign up and set yourself a challenge!
